Today is a sad day in fashion, legendary designer Oscar De la Renta has passed away. The legendary designer passed away on October 20th from an unknown cause. The designer has been in the industry for fifty years and was one of the great influencers in the fashion industry. The Dominican Designer got his start in the industry at Balenciaga, doing illustrations for the couture house. Soon after he created his first dress for the U.S. ambassador’s daughter, who was featured on the cover of life magazine wearing his dress. Through his past work experience with designers like Antonio del Castillo, Elizabeth Arden and Jane Derby, De la Renta was able to start his own company. On, Wednesday, April 23 People Magazine announced their 25th anniversary issue of their magazine, selecting Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as their 2014 most beautiful. 2014 was defiantly Lupita Nyong’o’s year with all the wins this year and being a fashion icon Lupita did indeed deserve this huge honor.
